Call for Abstracts – WFHSS 2016

The WFHSS invites academics within the industry to submit abstracts for the 17th World Sterilization Congress being held at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre from 26 October to 29 October 2016, Brisbane, Australia. Submissions will be considered for oral and e-poster presentations.

Aim:
The aim of the 2016 WFHSS Congress is to bring colleagues together to expand their knowledge, exchange ideas and stay up to date with new and emerging technologies to ensure staff and patient safety.

Key Learning Outcomes (KLO) are:

  • To provide stimulating, motivational and diverse speakers. This will enhance delegate knowledge to explore and investigate to develop strategies for their working environments.
  • To provide delegates with knowledge of new and emerging technologies.
  • To enable delegates to share quality initiatives with their peers.
  • To keep all delegates ‘up to date’ with International Standards Organisation [ISO] relevant to Sterilizing Services and to implement into clinical practice.
  • To attend and participate within the WFHSS 2016 Congress, to enable delegates for continuous professional development requirements of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency [AHPRA]

Call for Abstracts
The content areas belonging to the following themes can be proposed:

  • Multi-step Reprocessing [cleaning, disinfection, packaging, sterilization and release of a reusable medical device]
  • Quality Management Systems assessing Risk Factors
  • Research and development of new technologies
  • Education Initiatives’
  • Other disciplines include but not limited to: Endoscopy, Dental, Perioperative, Office Base Practice and Infection Control.

The program will include the presentation formats of oral and e-poster presentations.

ORAL PRESENTATION

General Abstract Information
Deadline for submission of oral presentation abstracts has been set for 31 January, 2016.

  • All abstracts submitted for consideration of an oral presentation will be reviewed by the WFHSS Scientific Committee and those accepted will be published in the Conference Abstract Book. Authors will be notified by 30 April, 2016.
  • When submitting an abstract at least one of the authors must commit to present the paper at the conference.
  • Please note that only the abstracts selected by the WFHSS Scientific Committee will be presented as an oral presentation. All other accepted abstracts will be offered the opportunity to present as an e-poster.
  • Presentation guidelines will be provided on acceptance into the Program.
  • All abstracts must be prepared according to the instructions provided below. Submissions will be returned to the author without review if not in the correct format and must be resubmitted immediately in the correct format to be reviewed and considered for inclusion in the program.

Conditions of Presenting

  • Presenting authors (oral presentations) will receive a complimentary congress registration, flights, and accommodation (3 nights or 4 nights).
  • All authors must complete the conflict of interest form, found on the online submission system when submitting their Abstract for consideration.
  • Any abstract without at least one registered presenter will be withdrawn from the program.
  • Standard audio visual is provided for all sessions (microphone, lectern, data projector, screen, and laptop). Any additional requirements must be listed in the online submission system.
  • Presentations may be recorded to be made available on the website wfhssbrisbane2016.com after the conference.

E-POSTER PRESENTATION

General Abstract Information
Deadline for submission of e-poster presentation abstracts has been set for 01 September, 2016.

  • All abstracts submitted for consideration of an e-poster presentation will be reviewed by the WFHSS Scientific Committee and those accepted will be published in the Conference Abstract Book. Authors will be notified by 16 September, 2016.
  • E-poster guidelines will be provided on acceptance of your abstract.
  • All abstracts must be prepared according to the instructions provided below. Submissions will be returned to the author without review if not in the correct format and must be resubmitted immediately in the correct format to be reviewed and considered for inclusion in the program.

Conditions of Presenting an E-Poster

  • All presenting authors must register to attend at least one day of the 17th World Sterilization Congress and must have paid their registration fee in full prior to the event.
  • All authors must complete the conflict of interest form, found on the online submission system when submitting their Abstract for consideration.
  • Any e-poster presentation without at least one registered presenter will be withdrawn from the program.
  • Delegate cancellation fees will apply if an e-poster presenter cancels their presentation.

Abstract Instructions – Oral Presentations and E-Posters
All Abstracts will be printed as submitted so all authors must strictly follow the instructions outlined below:

  • Abstracts to be submitted only in English.
  • The abstract should not exceed 1000 words
  • Name, surname, title, institution as well as the city and the country of origin of all authors to be mentioned.
  • (Street, street number, postal code) is not necessary.
  • The name of the presenting author to be mentioned along with other authors and underlined.
  • A biography of the presenting author, of no more than 1000 characters, is to be submitted along with the abstract.
  • The same team cannot submit more than 3 papers.
  • Abstract must be structured as follows: Introduction, Objectives, Results, Discussion, Conclusion
  • The main text may include necessary tables, charts and typical abbreviations.
  • Abstracts with phrases such as “the results will be discussed” or “the facts will be presented” cannot be accepted.
  • Any changes, additions or corrections will not be accepted after the submission close date.
  • Abstracts submitted after the deadline of 31 January 2016 will not be accepted.
  • Abstracts sent by post or email will not be accepted; only those submitted online through the online submission system will be evaluated.

Abstract Format
Note: it is important that you include the names of all companies where you are employed.

  • Format: Microsoft Word 97 – 2007 (.doc), Microsoft Word (.docx), Open Document Format (.odf) or Rich Text Format (.rtf)
  • Title of abstract to appear in the program to be limited to 100 characters.
  • Text: 11 point “Courier” font; single-spaced
  • Title of abstract (bold)
  • Underline author(s) who will be presenting
  • Affiliation/institution of each author
  • Email address of each author

Maximum 1000 words

Save the Abstract with file name: wfhss2016_Last Name First Initial.doc (for example: for John Citizen save as wfhss2016_CitizenJ.doc)

Publications
All Abstracts will be published in conference proceedings. Copies of all presentations, with audio or video, may be made available on the conference website after the conference.
